How to update Cheel
Cheel applications are normally updated automatically . In certain special cases, or when Cheel is installed on an application server (for example, a server with RDS), automatic updates can be configured to run on demand.
Normal situation: Automatic update
In the most common scenario, when using the "One instance per user" installation , Cheel checks for updates at each startup. If any are available, the changes are automatically downloaded and installed. You don't need to do anything else.
Special situation: Update on request
If you selected the " Install with one instance per computer" option, for example, for a Terminal Server (RDS or similar), the application is shared by multiple users. In this situation, Cheel does not automatically perform updates because multiple users may be connected at the same time, preventing an update from being installed. In this case, you must run the updates manually .
You can use two methods to update Cheel. Create a shortcut or a scheduled task that runs the following commands:
- ..\Launcher\Cheel.Update.bat
This is the preferred method because it performs 3 actions in a single command: - Close all open Cheel processes
- Perform the check and update installation
- Create a log containing the result of the update
- ..\Cheel\Launcher\Cheel.Launcher.exe /updateonly
This method only performs the check and installation of the update (it does not close open processes or log the update result).
Create a Cheel update shortcut
- Duplicate the Cheel shortcut and name it Cheel Update
In the Cheel Update shortcut properties, modify the Target and name it:
C:\Cheel SA\Cheel\Launcher\ Cheel.Update.Bat
- Save the new shortcut.
- Warning: If you run this shortcut, all open Cheel instances for all users will be closed.
Create a scheduled task to update Cheel automatically
Depending on the situation, it may be beneficial to automate the monitoring and updating of Cheel using a scheduled task. This ensures that all users are always working with the latest version of Cheel.
- From the Start menu, open the Windows Task Scheduler
- Create a new task named Cheel Update
- Add a Trigger of your choice (Day, time, etc.) outside of your company's working hours to avoid updating the application when users are logged in.
- Add a new Action and specify the following elements (based on the Target command of your Cheel shortcut):
Program / script:
"C:\Cheel SA\Cheel\Launcher\ Cheel.Update.bat "

How to view the update log
In the Cheel startup folder, you can view the update log by opening the following file:
"C:\Cheel SA\Cheel\Launcher\ Cheel.Update.log "
