Create simple foreign currency entries

Enter a simple currency transaction

To enter a simple transaction in foreign currency:
  1. Access the accounting entries page: Accounting menu, Financial accounting , Entries .
  2. To create a new simple font, click the New button. top right of the page.
  3. In the Simple Writing tab   page   New entry , fill in the entry fields. For more information on entering a simple entry, refer to the article Creating simple entries .
  4. When selecting a foreign currency account:
    1. The account currency is automatically applied.
    2. The currency and foreign currency balance are displayed to the right of the account drop-down list.
    3. Foreign currency input fields appear. You can enter the amount and the exchange rate of the foreign currency:

          
  1. Amount in currency (example EUR) : Enter the amount in currency.
  2. Exchange Rate : The suggested exchange rate is retrieved from the currency's Exchange Rates tab , based on the transaction date. You can modify it if needed. The amount in local currency (CHF) is then recalculated accordingly.

Currency Window

The Currency window   This allows you to define the value to recalculate and to save the exchange rate for the next entry. To display the Currency window:
  1. Click on the Amount link indicating the currency. In our example, the Amount EUR link:



    1. The Recalculate dropdown list allows you to define the value to recalculate: Amount (in local currency) , Currency , Exchange Rate , or None . Depending on the recalculation option selected, the corresponding fields will be activated in the window.
    2. The "Remember exchange rate" option saves the exchange rate as of the date of entry. For more information on currency exchange rates, see the article "Exchange rates ".
