What is an organization?

An organization represents a database. An organization can contain one company or, sometimes, several companies. These companies are legally independent but linked to each other. Each company within the group may have different activities or specialize in a particular area (production, distribution, services, etc.), but they share common data.

You need to create an organization before you can add one (or more) companies to it. For each organization, you can define:
  1. The Cheel account in which the organization is created.
  2. The languages used by the companies in the organization.
  3. The location of the database, which can be hosted on Cheel Cloud or stored on your own infrastructure.

Features and benefits of organizations

The organizations offer the following opportunities:
  1. Data compartmentalization and separation : Each organization is completely independent of other organizations.
  2. User access : You can grant users permissions to access one or more companies within the organization.
  3. Data migration : If you move your data to another server, you can migrate all companies in the organization in one operation.
  4. Manual backup : You can back up each organization's data independently. For more information on manually backing up and restoring data, click here .
  5. Data sharing : You can create multiple companies within the same organization when certain data needs to be shared, such as:
    1. the accounting plan,
    2. the address book,
    3. certain articles or
    4. consolidated accounts.
